Video: Slow Cargo Handling Drives Up Indonesia's Logistics Costs
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The national shipping industry, while supporting global energy transition and decarbonisation towards sustainable shipping, is still awaiting regulatory certainty from the government.
DPP INSA Chairman Carmelita Hartoto is advocating for clear regulations and supporting policies to implement ‘green shipping’ principles. The green energy transition policy direction requires collaboration between the government, shipping businesses, and biodiesel suppliers for commercial vessels.
Regarding persistently high national logistics costs, INSA attributes this to inefficiencies in the maritime supply chain, empty vessels, and port infrastructure imbalances. It is hoped that state-owned enterprises managing shipping systems will not only focus on profits but also improve logistics infrastructure, such as port loading and unloading systems.
