CNBC Indonesia, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, presents the Central Banking Forum 2026 with the theme “Indonesia’s Economic Resilience in Facing Global Exchange Rate Volatility”. The forum will thoroughly discuss Indonesia’s responses and those of monetary authorities to global challenges, while strengthening national economic resilience and maintaining market confidence and positive perspectives.

Chief Economist of BCA, David Sumual, at the Central Banking Forum 2026, presented his views on the Rupiah exchange rate position, where exchange rate pressures are not only felt by the Garuda currency but also by the currencies of Turkey, the Philippines, and Korea.

The Rupiah’s fundamental strength is relatively good, where based on Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) calculations, the Rupiah level tends to be neutral with an undervalued REER level but decreasing deviation.

Currently, the issue is short-term liquidity and increasing liquidity needs, which indicate potential Rupiah pressure.
