Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries through the Directorate for Coastal and Small Islands Development (P4K) continues to push for mangrove area rehabilitation to restore coastal ecosystems and boost community livelihoods.

Director of Coastal and Small Islands (P3K) at the Ministry, Ahmad Aris, said that mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation up to 2025 has achieved 34 hectares of mangroves rehabilitated in 2025, and from 2020–2025 the total reached 2,112 hectares across 18 provinces.

Going forward, the focus of mangrove rehabilitation will primarily be in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to support the National Strategic Program (PSN) for Salt in Rote Ndao, with a target of 600 hectares.

To improve the success of mangrove rehabilitation, the Ministry encourages community participation and ensures socio-economic viability. In addition, the Ministry promotes collaboration in financing, including utilisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs from both state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and private companies and NGOs.
