Video: Indonesian residents keen on online shopping during Ramadan; fintech ensures security
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah continue to drive increased shopping activity and consumer mobility as key economic drivers for Indonesia in the first quarter of 2026.
In the payments and financial transaction sector, the fasting month and Eid holiday are projected to boost consumer shopping transactions, including digital transactions. Lala Eka Nilam, Deputy Head of the AFTECH Department for Payment Service Providers, stated that increased consumer mobility and more intense religious activities will drive digital transactions.
Digital transactions related to e-wallets, QRIS, mobile banking, credit cards, virtual accounts, and online lending (pindar) have already recorded 4.7 billion transactions, representing 39 per cent year-on-year growth in early 2026, and are expected to surge further during Ramadan and Eid.
In supporting digital transactions, fintech companies are strengthening their role in fortifying the digital ecosystem through enhanced payment system services.
