Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia—The Indonesian Government has agreed to purchase energy products, including crude oil, fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas, valued at USD 15 billion or approximately IDR 253 trillion annually from the United States as part of the Indonesia-US trade agreement contained in the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), titled “Toward a New Golden Age for the US-Indonesia Alliance.”

Satya Widya Yudha, a member of the National Energy Council (DEN), views this agreement as part of the broader development of Indonesia-US trade relations. He characterised the purchase of energy from the United States as a reallocation of purchases from the Middle East rather than an increase in energy imports.

Additionally, this cooperation could attract investment and technology transfer from the United States to develop and enhance Indonesia’s oil and gas production, including natural gas. This is expected to present an opportunity for Indonesia to increase natural gas production, accelerate the energy transition, and thereby reduce liquefied petroleum gas imports.

The agreement was discussed in detail during an interview between Andi Shalini and Satya Widya Yudha, member of the National Energy Council, on Squawk Box, CNBC Indonesia (Wednesday, 25 February 2026).
