Video: DPR Urges Miners to Prioritise DMO to Secure PLN's Coal Supply
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Chairman of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Bambang Patijaya, has addressed the rolling blackouts currently affecting several areas in Java, Bali, and Madura. Bambang stated that such blackouts are rare, given that this transmission network is a vital region where energy supply continuity is strictly maintained. Based on DPR RI monitoring, two causes were identified: two power plants are currently undergoing maintenance, and there is a supply issue specifically concerning medium-calorie coal (4,200-4,500 kcal/kg), even though the overall Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) supply is deemed sufficient. To resolve this, medium-calorie coal supplies will be sourced from major producers such as PTBA and Adaro, allowing the electricity supply issue for PLN to be gradually restored. Bambang also reminded business operators to ensure compliance with DMO regulations to guarantee national energy security. Moving forward, the DPR RI will provide room for business operators and PLN to maintain balance and conduct evaluations between supply and pricing.
