VIDA shares tips for safely making Qurbani donations through digital platforms
Jakarta (ANTARA) - VIDA, a digital identity and fraud-prevention company, has issued tips to help the public perform Qurbani during Idul Adha safely and conveniently via digital platforms, in order to avoid digital fraud.
‘It is important to be more careful when verifying every transaction and not rush to click on links that look suspicious. Simple vigilance can be a crucial step in protecting oneself from online scams, especially in online Qurbani transactions,’ said VIDA founder and Group CEO Niki Luhur in a press release received on Friday.
As Idul Adha approaches, the public is increasingly able to channel Qurbani through various digital platforms, yet behind the convenience, many digital fraud methods exploit the heightened transaction activity during this festive period.
This reality creates more vulnerable touchpoints in every digital activity undertaken by the public, including during Qurbani transactions.
Niki said the public should ensure that transactions are conducted through an organisation or Qurbani platform with a clear identity and a solid reputation for safer transactions. The public should also be more vigilant if they come across Qurbani offers priced far below the market average.
He added not to share OTPs or sensitive personal data that should be kept secret with suspicious Qurbani recipients.
‘VIDA also reminds that the risk of fraud does not only target buyers, but also providers of Qurbani services. Therefore, providers need to be more meticulous in verifying each payment proof and ensuring the funds have truly been deposited into the account before the transaction is processed,’ said Niki.
Through VIDA’s latest initiative and security innovation, ID FraudShield, digital platforms can detect fraud patterns more comprehensively, including when perpetrators have obtained identity photos, OTP codes, or have taken control of a user’s device.
