Bengkulu City (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar has invited the community in Bengkulu City to engage in muhasabah, or self-introspection, as part of efforts to improve the quality of faith.

“May Masjid Jamik become a blessing for us all. It is here that history is recorded: Indonesia’s first president was once in Bengkulu, and from this region came Fatmawati Soekarno, who sewed the Sacred Red and White,” said Minister Nasaruddin Umar at Masjid Jamik in Bengkulu City on Friday.

The Minister stated that an individual’s quality of Islam has levels that must be continuously strived for, consisting of five categories, starting from fasik, awam, ahlul thoa, ahlul ibadah, to ahlullah.

“Above that is ahlul thoa, who have begun to be disciplined in worship but still feel burdened. Then there is ahlul ibadah, who perform worship out of love for Allah,” said Minister Nasaruddin Umar.

Furthermore, the Minister explained that the highest level of human faith is ahlullah, where individuals have achieved full love for Allah, so they no longer distinguish between obligatory and sunnah worship, and do not count the deeds they perform.

He further stated that Masjid Jamik is not only a place of worship but also strengthens the historical values attached to it. The building is one of the architectural works left by the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Sukarno, during his exile in Bengkulu.

The mosque features a blend of Javanese and Sumatran architectural styles, making it an icon of religion as well as an important historical site in Bengkulu Province.
