Nabire, Central Papua (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has asked Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa to ensure that the ASN Flats in Wanggar District, Nabire Regency, Central Papua, are free from design defects.

“Sir, if there are still any ‘defect designs’, do not accept them. This is professional; do not accept them (if there are design defects),” said Gibran to Governor Meki Nawipa and his team during an inspection of the ASN Flats in the Central Government Area of Central Papua Province on Monday.

During the direct inspection of the room units and building facilities, the Vice President expressed appreciation for the construction progress of the flats, noting that it has been running well.

However, Gibran emphasised that during the maintenance period until June 2027, all remaining deficiencies must be comprehensively repaired and resolved before the handover to the Central Papua Provincial Government takes place.

The Vice President firmly reiterated to the local government, including Governor Meki Nawipa who will occupy the office and residence, not to hesitate in rejecting the building handover if design defects (defect design) are found.

According to Gibran, meticulous attention to ensuring the quality of design and construction is key to allowing the building to be optimally, safely, and sustainably utilised by the ASN who will occupy it.

“Is the design already appropriate, Sir? Is the design already okay? Because the Governor will be the one occupying it later,” said Gibran to Governor Meki Nawipa.

During the inspection, the Vice President received a briefing from the Head of the Central Papua Provincial Housing Agency, Meda Kilian, regarding the construction progress and facilities of the flats for Central Papua ASN.

Each room in the flats consists of two bedrooms, namely a main bedroom and a children’s bedroom with two bunk beds, complemented by a living room, laundry area, kitchen, bathroom, and dining table.

“For the facilities, on the first floor there is a manager’s room, storage, panel room, public toilet, and janitor’s area. For the second floor itself, there are 16 rooms, and the third floor has 16 rooms,” said Meda.

Meda explained that each housing unit has been equipped with various furniture to support the comfort of the occupants, ranging from 160 cm beds, bunk beds for the children’s room, two-door and one-door wardrobes, to dining tables, coffee tables, sofas, and a set of chairs.

With this completeness, all flat units are in “full furnish” condition and ready to be occupied.

In addition, units on the first floor are prioritised for people with disabilities to ensure accessibility and ease of mobility for all occupants.

Also present during the inspection were Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, Head of the Central Papua Special Autonomy Development Acceleration Steering Agency (BP3OKP) Petrus Waine, and Nabire Regent Mesak Magai.
