Nabire, Central Papua (ANTARA) - The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, wore a cassowary crown and a traditional Papuan noken sling bag upon arriving in Nabire, Central Papua, on Monday, to begin his working visit to the Land of Papua.

Upon landing at Douw Aturure Airport in Nabire, he was accompanied by a delegation from Jakarta, including Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, and was welcomed by Central Papua Governor Meki Fritz Nawipa.

The Vice President then shook hands with the governor and his officials before inspecting the Douw Aturure Airport, which has been revitalised since 2025. He also directly viewed the waiting areas and internal facilities of the airport after receiving an explanation regarding the revitalisation process.

Several passengers at the location took the opportunity to shake hands and take photos with the Vice President.

During his agenda in Nabire, the Vice President is scheduled to inspect the port as well as the central government area of Central Papua Province, including the progress of constructing civil servant (ASN) apartments.

Subsequently, the Vice President will continue his journey to Timika to carry out several agendas, including interacting with the community.

In addition to inspections, the Vice President is also scheduled to dialogue with various regional stakeholders, including community leaders and local business actors, to absorb aspirations and ensure that government programmes are implemented on target.

This visit is expected to strengthen synergy between the central and regional governments in promoting inclusive and sustainable development in the Land of Papua.
