Vice President Gibran visits Habib Ali Al Habsyi and oversees food aid distribution
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited Habib Ali Al Habsyi at Majelis Al Habib Ali Al Habsyi, Islamic Center Indonesia, in Kwitang, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, and oversaw the distribution of food assistance to local residents.
The visit to Islamic scholars and community leaders represents an important part of maintaining close relations between government and society, particularly during Ramadan, a month rich in values of togetherness.
This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s message on various occasions, emphasising the importance of preserving unity and social harmony through strengthening relationships with religious leaders across different regions.
After the meeting, Vice President Gibran walked to Riyadh Mosque to visit the tomb of Mohammad bin Ali bin Abdurrahman Alhabsyi with his family. The visit served as a moment of reflection and tribute to Islamic scholars who have contributed to the development of Islamic preaching and religious life in Indonesia.
During the visit, Gibran also greeted residents of Kwitang subdistrict and oversaw the distribution of food aid to local residents. Approximately 200 residents received food parcels from the Vice President’s official residence as a demonstration of government care in helping meet community needs ahead of Lebaran.
Gibran’s arrival was met with enthusiasm from residents who had gathered since morning. Many residents attempted to approach to greet and shake hands with the Vice President before joining the queue for food assistance distribution.
Residents acknowledged that the aid was very helpful in meeting basic needs ahead of the holiday. “It is very helpful, we received rice. I am very happy,” said Yanti, a resident of RT 06/RW 02.
A similar sentiment was expressed by another resident named Widi. “Alhamdulillah, the people are happy that the Vice President came,” he said.
This visit forms part of a series of activities by the Vice President during Ramadan to strengthen ties while ensuring government presence within society, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
