Jakarta – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka took children from the Putra Utama 1, 2, and 3 Social Care Orphanages shopping at Muku outlets in Blok M Plaza, Jakarta, on Monday, 16 March, ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 2026 celebration.

The activity, which involved nearly 100 orphanage children, reflects the government’s commitment under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen child protection and welfare programmes whilst promoting prosperity for Indonesia’s young generation.

Despite the intense midday heat in Jakarta, the children’s enthusiasm remained undimmed. Smiles and joy filled their faces as they personally selected the clothes they wanted. The store atmosphere was filled with laughter and happiness.

One of the orphanage children, Syifa Anisah, expressed her delight at participating in the activity. “We felt so happy being taken out like this. Being able to leave the orphanage felt really exciting, so we were genuinely very pleased,” she said cheerfully.

The shopping activity focused on meeting everyday clothing needs. The orphanage staff warmly welcomed the opportunity.

Rama Azhari, a carer from PSAA Putra Utama 1, expressed hope that similar activities could be held again in the future. “Going forward, we hope activities like this can be held again so the children can be helped in meeting their needs,” he said.

Another participant, known as Keiko, also expressed happiness at being able to choose clothes herself. She also expressed hope that future activities could help meet the orphanage children’s school needs.

“Hopefully, in the future we can also get school supplies, like socks or other necessities. These are very important for us,” she said.

Through this activity, the government demonstrated its genuine commitment to providing state support for Indonesian children, particularly those needing additional assistance. The Eid momentum was utilised to foster optimism, independence, and hope for the future amongst the young generation.
