Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received a working visit from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos, Thongsavan Phomvihane, at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, to discuss strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

The arrival of Deputy PM Phomvihane at the Vice Presidential Palace was greeted by an honour guard from the Presidential Security Force and a Balinese pendet dance performed by the Khatulistiwa dance studio.

Meanwhile, Vice President Gibran, who had been waiting in the palace courtyard, approached Phomvihane as he alighted from his vehicle.

Gibran, dressed in a black suit, warmly welcomed Phomvihane with a handshake and light conversation as they entered the main hall of the Vice Presidential Palace.

Upon arriving at the front room of the palace, Vice President Gibran invited Phomvihane to sign the guest book and then posed for photos in front of the media.

Afterwards, the two entered the main room for a bilateral meeting with delegations from each country.

Deputy PM Phomvihane and Vice President Gibran introduced the delegates accompanying them.

Vice President Gibran was accompanied by deputy ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, including Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta and Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Agency Aminuddin Ma’ruf.

Meanwhile, the Laos delegation present included the Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Indonesia, Khamfeuang Phanthaxay, Director General of the Department of Asia-Pacific and Africa Bounthanongsack Chanthalath, and Director General of the ASEAN Department Sengdavanh Vongsay.

Indonesia and Laos will celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2027. Before visiting the Vice Presidential Palace, Deputy PM Thongsavan had met with Foreign Minister Sugiono on Monday (4/5).
