Vessels to be Added at BBJ Bojonegara Port to Ease Truck Congestion
Truck queues have become severe at BBJ Bojonegara Port in Serang District, Banten. ASDP will increase vessel capacity to ease truck congestion.
ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Director General Heru Widodo stated that the port currently operates 12 vessels. He indicated that the Ministry of Transportation will add more ships to the location.
“The Ministry of Transportation also plans to add more vessels. We will even deploy our other ships that can dock at BBJ to assist there,” said Heru at Merak Port on Monday (16 March 2026).
Heru noted that BBJ Bojonegara Port has different characteristics compared to other ports. According to him, ASDP will assess which vessels are suitable for operating at the port.
“The port characteristics at BBJ are different, whether on the dock or berth. Some vessels can dock there and others cannot. We need to first check which vessels can dock there,” he explained.
Previously, a truck driver named Warsito reported waiting for his turn to board a vessel for two nights. Until Sunday (15 March), at around 22:27 WIB, he and several other drivers were still waiting to board.
“Alhamdulillah, two nights waiting for my turn on the vessel. The problem is simply that the queue is too long, as you can see,” he said.
Warsito was forced to stay overnight at the port while waiting his turn to board. Nevertheless, he and several other drivers in the queue received one meal per day from the port operators.
“I have to stay here, what else can I do. I get one meal,” he said.
