East Ciputat Police in South Tangerang mediated a dispute involving vegetable vendors who objected to the eviction of their trading spots by the sub-district administration. Seven traders from Ciputat Market went to the sub-district head’s home to protest by dumping piles of vegetables at his front door.

The incident occurred on Monday (16 February) at 23:00 Western Indonesian Time. The vendors descended upon the residence of Ciputat Sub-District Head Mamat in Gang Cantik, Sawah Village, South Tangerang.

“Initially, the on-duty Criminal Investigation Unit of East Ciputat Police received information from the Community Guidance Unit Chief of East Ciputat Police (Assistant Commissioner Kustam) that seven Ciputat Market traders had gone to the residence of the Ciputat Sub-District Head. The on-duty Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Community Guidance Unit Chief then went to the scene and found piles of vegetables in front of the home of H. Mamat, the Ciputat Sub-District Head,” said East Ciputat Police Chief Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq in his statement on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

The matter was resolved amicably. Mediation between the sub-district head and the vendors reached a resolution.

“Subsequently, the Community Guidance Unit Chief received instructions from the victim to have the vegetables taken back and for the matter to be settled amicably, with the vendors agreeing not to repeat their actions. Mediation was then conducted between representatives of the Ciputat Market traders and the victim’s family,” said Commissioner Bambang.

“They agreed to resolve the matter amicably and to remove the vegetables from in front of the Ciputat Sub-District Head’s residence,” he added.

The Criminal Investigation Unit and Community Guidance Unit Chief then removed the piles of vegetables from Sub-District Head Mamat’s home. The produce was subsequently distributed to the Darul Amal Foundation in Pondok Ranji as a donation.

“Under the agreement, the Community Guidance Unit Chief and the on-duty Criminal Investigation Unit assisted in transporting the vegetables and delivering them to the Darul Amal Foundation Islamic Boarding School in Pondok Ranji for donation,” he said.
