The achievements of young racers from the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), such as Veda Ega Pratama and Aldy Satya Mahendra, are increasingly drawing international attention. Despite the shining success of DIY’s racers, motorcycle racing training facilities, such as practice circuits, are notably absent in the region. Wesley Heince Parera Tauntu, Head of Achievement Development at KONI DIY, stated that according to information his party has received, land for the construction of a circuit has been prepared. The circuit is planned to be built in the Ratu Boko area, Prambanan, Sleman Regency. “The information we received is that a location has already been prepared. If I’m not mistaken, it is in the Ratu Boko area, around Prambanan,” Wesley told journalists on Wednesday. Wesley explained that this information was obtained when KONI DIY attended a meeting and Syawalan gathering with the Regional Board of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) DIY some time ago. The meeting addressed plans for the development of motorcycle racing facilities in DIY. According to him, the location in the eastern part of Sleman is projected to become a training facility as well as a development centre for young DIY racers. “Hopefully this can be realised quickly,” he said. KONI DIY hopes that the construction of the permanent circuit will receive support from various parties, especially the Regional Government of DIY. The presence of a circuit is considered increasingly urgent given the rising achievements of racers from Jogja at both national and international levels. “The hope is indeed for support from all parties to realise a permanent circuit for our racing friends in DIY,” he asserted. Meanwhile, KONI DIY continues to monitor the progress of motorcycle racing athletes projected to compete in the XXII PON in NTT-NTB. This includes racers currently competing in international events, such as Veda Ega Pratama and Kiandra Ramadhipa. “We are still observing developments and continuously coordinating with the IMI Regional Board and related parties. After all, they are also bound by contracts in their racing careers,” Wesley concluded.
