The government is redeveloping the Tanjung Kait Fishermen’s Village area in Tanjung Anom Village, Mauk Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, by building homes claimed to be more comfortable for coastal communities. One of the changes implemented is the use of tiled roofs on all houses. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that tiles were chosen to improve residents’ comfort amid hot weather conditions. He explained that the area redevelopment has significantly changed the settlement conditions compared to before. On a 1.3-hectare plot, 110 housing units have been built, each with a building area of about 30 square metres on a 60-square-metre plot. Each house is equipped with two to three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. “Clearly, the conditions before the area redevelopment and now are vastly different,” he said. Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf mentioned that the Tanjung Anom area is part of the Red White Fishermen’s Village development programme. “We are carrying out the Red White Fishermen’s Village development in about five locations, where one will serve as a support. Specifically in Tanjung Anom Village, we will carry out improvements or revitalisation with support construction,” he said. He added that the area design will also be adjusted to not hinder the fishermen community’s activities in earning a living. Recruitment for Red White Fishermen’s Village managers has also been launched and will be carried out gradually in various regions. Tangerang Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid stated that the total budget required for the Tanjung Anom settlement redevelopment is around Rp 13 billion. The funding comes from various parties, including support from the Habitat organisation, the Regency Government, and cooperatives.
