Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Dwi Rio Sambodo, stated that the use of public transport to reduce fuel (BBM) consumption is an effective option for Civil Servants (ASN) in Jakarta, given that public transportation in the capital is already integrated.

“I support efforts to improve budget efficiency, including controlling fuel consumption,” said Rio in Jakarta on Thursday, in response to the discourse on the Work From Home (WFH) policy once a week for ASN.

He stated that the policy of WFH once a week for ASN in DKI Jakarta cannot be implemented simplistically without a comprehensive and data-based study.

Rio also asked the DKI Provincial Government to provide an evaluation of similar policies, namely WFH for ASN that has been implemented previously, including a cost-benefit analysis between potential fuel savings and the risk of declining public service quality.

For this reason, he suggested that the government consider that Jakarta already has a relatively integrated public transport system such as MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta.

“Optimising the use of public transport for ASN, for example through transport subsidies or tightening the use of official vehicles, can be a more effective option in reducing fuel consumption without reducing the physical presence of ASN,” he said.

“So, the DKI Jakarta Government will follow whatever the central government’s decision is. Whatever is decided, we will implement it,” said Pramono at City Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3).

The policy is planned to be implemented after Eid as a step to save energy amid rising world oil prices.

Nevertheless, Pramono stated that up to now, the policy has not been decided, so his side has not yet taken a stance regarding its implementation.

“But because it has not been decided, we have not yet taken a stance on it,” Pramono explained.
