US Secretary of State Claims US "Forced" to Attack Iran Due to Israel's War Appetite

WASHINGTON – US Secretary of State Mark Rubio has revealed that the United States was forced to join in attacking Iran due to Israel’s appetite for war. According to him, Israel’s determination to strike Iran and the certainty that American forces would become targets in retaliation compelled the Trump administration to launch the assault.

He made this statement on Monday evening whilst providing the Trump administration’s first briefing to the US Congress since ordering an aerial campaign to commence at the weekend. Rubio’s explanation represents a fresh account of the reasons for Washington’s surprising entry into the conflict.

Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General CQ Brown briefed congressional members in a closed session at the Capitol ahead of an anticipated weekend vote by Congress on a war powers resolution that would provide an opportunity to attempt to compel Trump to end hostilities against Iran.

“It is very clear that if Iran is attacked by anyone – the United States, Israel, or anyone else – they will retaliate, and they will retaliate by attacking the United States,” Rubio told reporters at the Capitol.

“We know that there will be Israeli action. We know that it will trigger an attack on American forces, and we know that if we do not take preventive action before they launch an attack, we will suffer greater loss of life.”

JD Vance stated in an interview on Fox News on Monday evening that the US objective is to ensure “Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons”.

“The President wants to make clear to Iran and to the world that he will not stop until he achieves the important objective of ensuring that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons,” said the Vice President.

Vance is the member of Donald Trump’s administration most opposed to military intervention and speaks less frequently about US actions against Iran compared to Rubio.
