The United States military has no intention of reducing its attacks on Iran following the large-scale operations launched since Saturday, 28 February, local time. The wave of assaults carried out by the US alongside its ally Israel has killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“We did say it would be massive, and we meant it,” said Captain Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for US Central Command (CENTCOM), as reported by Al Arabiya on Monday, 2 March 2026.

CENTCOM, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East region, stated on Saturday, 28 February, that President Donald Trump ordered a military operation, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, to defend Americans by eliminating the threat posed by the Iranian regime.

“The President ordered decisive action. CENTCOM forces delivered extraordinary and relentless blows,” CENTCOM stated in a post on social media platform X.

The US military operation targeted and killed senior Iranian leaders, including Khamenei, who had led the nation for the past 36 years.

Several B-2 stealth bombers were deployed to destroy underground ballistic missile storage areas in Iran, according to an unnamed US official who spoke to Al-Arabiya. The bombers flew from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, but did not use the 30,000-pound GBU bombs that were deployed in last year’s strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

CENTCOM announced on Sunday, 1 March, that US forces had launched attacks against more than 1,000 targets throughout Iranian territory so far, including the destruction of the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Other targets struck by US attacks included Iran’s command and control centres, IRGC joint headquarters, IRGC Air Force headquarters, Integrated Air Defence Systems, ballistic missile sites, Iranian naval vessels, Iranian naval submarines, anti-ship missile sites, and Iranian communications capabilities.

At least three US military personnel were killed and several others severely wounded as a result of Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting US bases across the Middle East region. The death toll is estimated to increase further.

Several US officials and former officials have expressed concern about US weapons supplies and the rapid consumption of ammunition. However, former CENTCOM commander General Joseph Votel expressed confidence that the military possesses sufficient resources to sustain operations for as long as required.

“I think the US military is prepared to continue its operations as long as they are ordered to do so, and I believe they possess the resources needed to do so. Ultimately, our political leadership will determine how long this will last,” Votel told Al Arabiya English.
