US-Israel Attack Iran, AWG Says Board of Peace Is Not an Instrument of Peace

Jakarta: A joint military operation launched by the United States (US) and Israel against Iran since 28 February 2026 has sparked a major escalation of conflict in the Middle East and resulted in numerous casualties. Aqsa Working Group (AWG) views that the US-Israel attack as evidence that the Board of Peace (BoP), formed by Donald Trump, is not an instrument of global peace.

AWG Chairman Muhammad Anshorullah said that the United States (US) and Zionist Israel ultimately carried out a military strike and violated the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, starting on 28 February 2026, which led to Ali Khamenei’s martyrdom. The violation triggered Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israeli-occupied territory and US military bases in the region.

He said this situation cannot be separated from the context of colonisation and genocide in Palestine. Iran is one of the few Muslim countries that consistently and firmly supports the Palestinian people’s struggle and rejects foreign intervention.

“The current tensions between Iran and the United States-Israel are being exploited by both sides to exacerbate security stability in the Middle East and divert world attention; as a result, Zionist Israel could increasingly be allowed to carry out various repressive actions in Palestine,” Anshorullah told Republika on Monday (2/3/2026).

Anshorullah revealed that the strict restrictions by Zionist Israeli forces caused the Al-Aqsa Mosque not to be filled with tarawih worshippers on 28 February 2026, a dark mark for Muslims. The Ibrahimi Mosque was also completely blocked on security grounds following Iran’s retaliatory strike against Israel (Palestinian-occupied territories).

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank have increased, but have received little media attention as world attention has been absorbed by the escalation of the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Therefore, AWG issued the following statement.

First, AWG condemns the military attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran as a grave violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. Such military action cannot be justified in a global order based on law.
