US-Israel aggression against Iran creates momentum for Indonesia to leave the Board of Peace
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto is urged to pull Indonesia out of the Board of Peace (BoP) following the Middle East crisis triggered by open warfare between Zionist Israel and the United States (US) and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Defence analyst Connie Rahakundini Bakrie says BoP is no longer relevant to be expected as the Peace Council for Gaza, Palestine in light of the aggression carried out by Zionist forces and the US against Iran.
Connie said that the aggression against Iran, led by the US-Zionists as the Chair and members of BoP, proves that the Peace Council is aimed at war rather than peace. The US-Zionist aggression against the land of the mullahs, with broad impact across Gulf Arab states, according to Connie, provides an exit for President Prabowo to withdraw from the BoP immediately.
“Mr President Prabowo, with all due respect, this is an exit door moment for Indonesia to leave the Board of Peace. Because BoP is no longer titled a Board of Peace, but has become a Board of War with the events in Iran,” Connie said in a video broadcast received by journalists in Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/3/2026).
According to Connie, President Prabowo should restore Indonesia’s military doctrine, and geopolitics as a non-aligned country. “Please Mr Prabowo, we need an exit door, and we return to our position as non-alignment, or non-block,” she said.
Because, according to Connie, Indonesia’s role as a non-aligned country can be easier to keep addressing the Gaza issue in Palestine in line with the peace objective. “Our position as non-alignment or non-block will be more graceful, more beautiful, and firmer in its handling,” Connie said.
She said that from the outset, BoP, created at the behest of US President Donald Trump, has been difficult to trust to carry a peace mission. And President Prabowo should not easily take Indonesia into an Ad hoc Peace Council outside the United Nations (UN) framework.
“Again, please, withdraw from the Board of Peace which has become the Board of War, and return to non-alignment,” Connie said.
Open warfare between the US-Israel and Iran has been ongoing since Saturday (28/2/2026). The Zionist-US duo opened the war by bombing Iran’s capital Tehran, resulting in the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, including generals and senior military officials. His wife, daughter-in-law, and grandson also died in the attack. The assault by the US-Israel also spread to 24 provinces in Iran.
By the fourth day (3/3/2026) the attack on Iran had claimed at least 550 lives, most of them civilians. The Islamic Republic of Iran withstood the assault and retaliated by striking areas of Israeli-occupied territory.
Iran’s counter-attack also involved drones and long-range missiles targeting US military bases across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, as well as Jordan. Recently, Arab countries hosting US military bases were angered as their territory was also attacked by Iran. Several of these countries even threatened to join the US and Zionist Israel in pushing Iran”
