Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasised that fuel prices in Indonesia remain stable with no increases so far, despite rising global energy pressures. Nevertheless, he urged the public to use energy wisely as part of efforts to maintain national resilience. Bahlil reminded people not to engage in excessive purchases or panic buying. “If one day you need 30 or 40 litres, that’s enough; there’s no need for panic buying,” said Bahlil while inspecting a petrol station in Colomadu, Karanganyar, on Thursday (26/3/2026). According to him, excessive buying practices can disrupt fuel distribution and harm the wider public. Additionally, he highlighted the need for more efficient energy use in households. “When cooking with LPG, if the food is already cooked, don’t waste the stove,” he said. He promised that there are no plans for price hikes so far. “Alhamdulillah, up to now there has been no increase; we haven’t raised prices,” said Bahlil during the inspection of the petrol station in Colomadu, Karanganyar, on Thursday (26/3/2026). He added that the distribution of fuel, both petrol and diesel, remains smooth without long queues at petrol stations. Bahlil stressed that the global situation, including geopolitical tensions, requires all parties to help maintain energy stability. “This issue is not just the government’s problem but everyone’s. The government can’t work alone, nor can the people; I invite all parties to join in safeguarding our country,” he said. He emphasised that collaboration between government and society is key to keeping national energy reserves secure, including in facing potential global supply fluctuations. Bahlil also assured that Indonesia’s fuel reserves are still within safe national standards. “Our oil reserves are stored for a minimum of 21 to 28 days, and we are continuously optimising the refineries in the country,” he said in conclusion.
