US-Iran Crisis Becomes Strategic Momentum, Indonesia Accelerates EBT Policies and Investments
The war between the United States (US) and Iran has the potential to disrupt global oil supplies, particularly from the Middle East region. The impacts are already being felt by various countries that are tightening energy consumption. In Indonesia, one of the recommended steps is the implementation of working from home (WFH) as part of efforts to save energy.
On the other hand, this situation is also seen as an opportunity to accelerate the utilisation of new and renewable energy (EBT), which is abundant in Indonesia. This was stated by the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and CEO of BPI Danantara, Rosan P. Roeslani, during an online press conference from Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday evening (31/3/2026).
“On one hand, we are also seizing the momentum to accelerate several policies and also from the investment side to speed up the use of renewable energy or EBT such as geothermal, solar (panels), hydro, and others. Thus, this is a very comprehensive step, both for the short, medium, and long term, which can have a positive impact on our future energy use,” said Rosan.
Regarding efforts to save energy through WFH policies, Rosan emphasised that his side will promptly follow up, particularly for SOEs under Danantara’s auspices. However, its implementation will still consider aspects of productivity and quality of service to the public.
“We will also promptly follow up on SOEs under our auspices while still upholding productivity and public services will continue as usual. But we will also increase efficiency while still upholding productivity. These are steps that have been taken by the government,” he revealed.
