The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh has issued an alert to all Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Saudi Arabia following heightened security dynamics in the Middle East region. Indonesian citizens are advised to remain calm but vigilant regarding developments in their respective areas.

In the first point of the circular, the embassy emphasised the importance of maintaining calm amidst the developing situation. “Remain calm and do not panic, but always increase vigilance regarding developments around your respective residences,” the embassy stated in its advisory on 1 March 2026.

Explosions rocked Tehran, Iran’s capital, on 28 February 2026, following attacks described by US officials to Al Jazeera as a joint operation with Israel. On the same day, explosions were also reported in Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Manama after Iran launched missiles towards Israel.

Additionally, Indonesian citizens are urged to access information only from official and trusted sources and to follow directions from Saudi Arabian government authorities and the Indonesian Embassy. This measure is considered important to avoid misinformation that could trigger panic amongst the Indonesian diaspora community.

The embassy also reminded all Indonesian citizens to ensure they have registered themselves. Those who have not yet done so are asked to register immediately through the Peduli WNI platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indonesian representation emphasised that this data collection is crucial for facilitating communication and protection in case of emergencies.

Furthermore, Indonesian citizens are advised to join official WhatsApp groups of community associations in their respective regions to facilitate coordination. They are also requested to prepare important documents such as passports and iqama (residence permits) in both physical and digital formats for easy access at any time.

Regarding mobility, the embassy urged postponement of non-urgent travel to areas that could be affected by security escalation. “Postpone non-urgent travel to countries or regions that could be affected by security situation escalation,” the embassy stated.

In case of emergency, Indonesian citizens can contact the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh’s hotline via WhatsApp at +966 569173990. The embassy stated that it continues to monitor the situation carefully and will provide further information should there be matters requiring additional attention from Indonesian citizens.
