Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) supports the construction of the Adhyaksa Hospital in Kayuambon Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency (KBB), with the groundbreaking ceremony held symbolically on Monday (23/2). The Adhyaksa Hospital, built on the site of a former horse racing track with an area of approximately 88,373 square meters, is targeted for completion within one year.
The construction of the Adhyaksa Hospital marks an important milestone in the plan to develop national-standard healthcare services in the KBB region. The Adhyaksa Lembang Hospital is planned to be the fifth hospital in Indonesia managed by the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office.
The Rector of UPI, Prof. Didi Sukyadi, explained that the presence of this healthcare facility will not only improve the quality of medical services in West Java (Jabar) but also create opportunities for the development of stronger medical education, research, and clinical practice for students.
“The presence of the Adhyaksa Hospital in Lembang is a momentum for strengthening medical education and health research. Synergy between the hospital, academics, and the university will enrich the health education ecosystem, which will have a direct impact on the community,” he said.
According to Didi, the construction and support are a manifestation of the concept of a University with Impact. The university must be present and be part of an ecosystem that provides solutions for the community’s needs for quality healthcare services. The Adhyaksa Lembang Hospital will in the future provide general medical services, clinical support services, forensic and medicolegal services, and medical rehabilitation facilities for various community needs, including medical treatment for drug abuse in accordance with applicable guidelines.
“UPI sees this collaboration as part of a larger effort to support the National Health System and the development of an academic health system that integrates education, research, and healthcare services,” he said.
This synergy, Didi added, is also in line with UPI’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through increased access to quality healthcare services and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening medical education and research based on community needs. This collaboration also reflects the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) at the local and national levels.
“Of course, UPI welcomes the active role of various parties, including the local government, the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office, and the community, in realizing this hospital as an inclusive and high-standard healthcare facility. UPI is committed to continuing to participate in the development of healthcare services and medical education through strategic collaborations that bring broad benefits to the Indonesian people,” he concluded.
