In welcoming the Lebaran 2026 homecoming season, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has instructed all levels of the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) to consistently conduct ramp checks across all modes of transport. Dudy explained that this step is important to enhance safety and prevent accidents during the Lebaran homecoming and return period in 2026.

β€˜The safety of the public during the Lebaran transport period must be the top priority. In this regard, I have instructed all levels of Kemenhub to carry out ramp checks consistently and in accordance with procedures, so that all transport facilities operating are truly roadworthy,’ he said in an official statement on Saturday (7 March 2026).

Dudy further explained that checks will be conducted on all modes of transport, including land, sea and air.

According to the data provided, of the total, 17,516 bus units have obtained operating licences.

Meanwhile, the remainder, or 10,148 units, have been given repair notices, are prohibited from operating, or are subject to fines.

In the maritime sector, the fitness checks were conducted on 832 ships out of a total of 840 vessels. In the ferry sector, checks have been carried out on 220 ships out of 254 vessels.

Regarding updates to the Free Mudik programme, Dudy said the number of applicants using buses up to 5 March 2026 reached 15,550 from a total quota of 15,834 passengers.

Next, the number of applicants for free mudik for motorcycles transported by trucks has reached 172 units from a total quota of 240 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the number of applicants for the Free Motorcycle Transport with Rail (Motis) currently stands at 9,529 units from a total quota of 11,900 motorcycles, and the number of registered passengers is 18,382 from a total of 28,196 passengers.

Additionally, for free mudik by sea, the Ministry provides a quota of 69,232 passengers for various routes across Indonesia. By 6 March 2026, the first day of registration, the number of applicants was claimed to have reached 5,933 people.
