Update on Mazda Factory Development in Indonesia: When Will It Be Completed?
JAKARTA – The construction of Mazda’s factory in Indonesia continues to show significant progress. PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), the official distributor of Mazda in the country, has revealed that the project has now reached around 80 per cent.
Viya Arsawireja, Marketing and Communications General Manager of PT EMI, stated that the assembly facility construction process is proceeding according to plan.
“Assembly is still on track, approximately 80 per cent complete. Hopefully this year,” said Viya, when met in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026).
However, the company has yet to disclose further details regarding the exact location or specifications of the production facility.
Previously, PT EMI confirmed that one of the models to be assembled locally is a vehicle in the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment. The model in question is in the same class as the Mazda CX-3 and CX-5.
Currently, all Mazda product lines marketed in Indonesia are still imported fully built (completely built up/CBU) from several countries. Models such as the CX-5, CX-9, CX-30, CX-60, and Mazda3 hatchback are imported from Japan.
With the presence of a local factory, Mazda is expected to improve distribution efficiency while strengthening its competitiveness in the national automotive market, particularly in the continuously growing SUV segment.
