Unruly passenger arrested on plane
MALAYSIA: Authorities arrested a man who tried to break into the cockpit of a Malaysia Airlines plane en route from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong, an airline official said on Wednesday.
The man was detained by Hong Kong police upon landing, a Malaysia Airlines spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity.
Malaysia's national news agency Bernama identified the man as Yu Naibin, a Chinese citizen.
A statement released by the airline said the disruptive passenger became "violent" and tried to enter the cockpit. Cabin crew aboard the Tuesday morning flight restrained and handcuffed the man with the help of other passengers, the statement said.
Hong Kong police spokeswoman Margaret Ho said the man had been sent to a local hospital for observation, as police suspected he might be mentally ill. She said there was "no criminal element" in the case, which had been referred to the immigration department. --AP
