Unorthodox punishment

BOGOR (JP): A female worker of PT Truba Shoes Factory has
filed a complaint with police after the company's executives
forced her to stand in the sun as a punishment.

Rosidah, 30, told police that she and several other female
employees had been ordered to stand in the sun for several hours
as a punishment for not coming in for work several days earlier,
Suara Pembaruan reported.

Police sources said Rosidah had had a miscarriage after the
company's executives punished her by making her stand in the sun
in the factory compound on Dec. 24.

Rosidah, a mother of three, was two months pregnant when the
company handed down "the punishment." Rosidah fainted after
standing in the sun for only 15 minutes. She was taken to a
doctor who, after some examination, told her that she had
miscarried, the sources said.

Bogor police will soon summon the factory's top executives for
questioning in connection with the incident.(bas)
