The role of women in the technology world is showing a positive trend. This is reflected in the achievement of Dr Eni Heni Hermaliani, S.Kom, MM, M.Kom, a lecturer and also the Secretary of the Informatics Study Programme (S3), Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM).

Eni successfully earned her doctoral degree (S3) in Computer Science after successfully defending her dissertation in the Doctoral Programme in Computer Science (PDIKA) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS), Semarang.

This achievement serves as proof that women have a strategic role in the development of science and technology, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

In her dissertation, Dr Eni presented research on a model for predicting student academic performance based on Explainable AI (XAI). This approach allows the system not only to generate predictions but also to provide transparent explanations regarding the factors influencing those results.

Amid her busy schedule as a lecturer and structural official, Dr Eni was able to complete her doctoral studies. This demonstrates that women are capable of handling multiple roles simultaneously as educators, researchers, and academic leaders.

“Undertaking S3 studies while carrying out structural duties is indeed full of challenges. However, with commitment and good time management, it can be accomplished,” she explained.

This achievement also serves as an important symbol of the increasing participation of women in the technology field, which has long been dominated by men. The presence of figures like Dr Eni is hoped to inspire more women to boldly take on roles in academia and technology.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Informatics Doctoral Programme at UNM, Dr Lita Merlina, also appreciated this achievement as a concrete form of the quality of human resources in the UNM environment.

According to her, Dr Eni’s success shows that UNM lecturers have superior academic competence and are capable of contributing to technology development, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

“This also serves as inspiration for other lecturers to continue improving their academic qualifications,” she stated in a comment quoted on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

As a Digital Business Campus, UNM continues to commit to creating an inclusive and progressive educational environment, including supporting the development of female lecturers’ capacities through various academic and research programmes.

Dr Eni also encourages women not to hesitate to continue their education to higher levels and to take on strategic roles in the digital era.

“I hope that more and more women will dare to continue their studies and take on strategic roles, especially in the field of technology. We have equal opportunities to develop and contribute,” she added.

With this achievement, it is hoped that more Indonesian women will be inspired to actively engage in technology and innovation development, as well as contribute to national development in the digital era.
