UNM Explores Cooperation for Data and AI Platform Utilisation with Open Source Foundation
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) held a ‘Come to Company’ event to explore technological cooperation with the Open Source Community Foundation in East Jakarta on Tuesday (15/09/2026). The visit focused on exploring the KNIME Community Indonesia to strengthen learning in the fields of Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The UNM delegation, led by the Head of NEX.AI, Dr Ali Khumaudii, was personally welcomed by the Founder of the Open Source Foundation, Arief Rama Syarif. The forum featured knowledge-sharing sessions and in-depth discussions regarding the use of the KNIME Analytics Platform as a supporting tool for student teaching materials.
The use of such analytical technology is increasingly relevant given that UNM’s Data Science Study Programme has achieved ‘Unggul’ (Excellent) accreditation. As a Digital Business Campus, UNM seeks to enrich the academic process for students through sustainable synergy with practitioners and technology communities.
Dr Ali Khumaudii, Head of NEX.AI at Universitas Nusa Mandiri, stated that this collaboration is a strategic step in building an adaptive learning ecosystem.
“We see that KNIME has very good potential to support the Data and AI learning process at Universitas Nusa Mandiri. Through a more practical and workflow-based approach, students will not only learn the concepts of data processing and analysis but can also directly explore how this technology is used to solve various real-world problems,” said Dr Ali in a release received on Thursday (17/09/2026).
He added that community involvement will provide valuable practical experience for student portfolios. This visit is expected to progress to the implementation stage of programmes such as workshops, project-based learning, and competency training.
Meanwhile, the Founder of the Open Source Foundation and a KNIME Certified Trainer & Contributor, Arief Rama Syarif, shared his experience in managing various national and international analytical projects. He welcomed the plan for academic synergy to encourage the open mastery of digital technology.
“We hope today’s discussion marks the beginning of a broader collaboration to provide Data and AI learning that is increasingly practical, open, and relevant for students,” he said.
This collaborative initiative is expected to be followed up with concrete programmes that bridge the gap between academic spaces and industry needs. Through this synergy, UNM students are being prepared to possess relevant data processing skills and be ready to compete in the modern workforce.
