Unkriswina Lecturer Allegedly Sexually Harassed Student Three Times
A lecturer at Unkriswina Christian University in Sumba, RAL, is alleged to have sexually harassed a student at his residence. The victim, identified as JMS (20), claims RAL assaulted her on three separate occasions.
“The case has been reported regarding the sexual harassment allegations by the victim and is currently under investigation,” said East Sumba District Police Chief AKBP Gede Harimbawa to detikBali on Thursday (28 May 2026).
RAL is known to be a law lecturer at Unkriswina. The following are key facts regarding the lecturer’s alleged harassment of a student.
Sister Tracks Victim Using GPS
The alleged sexual harassment occurred at RAL’s residence in Kanatang District, East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Gede explained the case began when JMS’s sibling, RS, noticed her absence from home on Monday (25 May 2026) around 7:00 PM WITA, prompting suspicion.
RS then checked JMS’s location using the GPS Maps app. Tracking revealed JMS was in Temu Village. RS proceeded to the coordinates provided.
Lecturer Initially Claimed Victim Was at Friend’s House
Upon arrival, RS found the coordinates led to RAL’s residence. He knocked on the law lecturer’s door to confirm his sister’s whereabouts.
After several knocks, RAL eventually opened the door. RS stated he was searching for JMS, but RAL claimed she was at a friend’s house.
RS then asked RAL to help search for JMS. “However, before leaving, the complainant requested the suspect enter the house to check, but he initially refused,” Gede said.
Gede added that after repeated insistence, RAL allowed RS to enter the house, where he found JMS inside.
Victim Allegedly Harassed Three Times, Including Touching Genitals and Kissing
RS then took the victim to the East Sumba District Police Station to report the case. According to her police statement, JMS alleged she was sexually harassed three times by Raymond, involving touching her genitals and kissing.
“The victim has been examined and undergone a medical check-up. We will also summon witnesses for questioning,” Gede stated.
Suspect’s Modus Operandi: Asking Victim to Help Prepare Report
PPA Unit Head of East Sumba District Police Station, Iptu Ahmad Furqan, revealed the suspect’s method of operation.
“According to the victim, the lecturer initially invited her to his home to help prepare a report,” Ahmad told detikBali on Friday (29 May 2026).
Ahmad stated that RAL grabbed her hand and kissed her. He added that the victim did not resist out of fear.
Days later, RAL called JMS again, asking her to return to his house. She was subjected to further sexual harassment, with RAL touching her sensitive areas.
“The victim did not report it to anyone due to fear, leading to repeated incidents until the final occurrence on 25 May 2026,” Ahmad explained.
University Interviews 15 Internal Witnesses
In addition to police proceedings, Unkriswina Sumba’s University Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (PPKPT) is conducting internal investigations. The task force has interviewed 15 witnesses related to RAL’s alleged harassment of JMS.
“We have interviewed 15 witnesses in connection with the harassment case,” said PPKPT Secretary, Pastor Trince Dondu, when contacted by detikBali on Friday (29 May 2026).
Trince explained the 15 witnesses were interviewed after the case was reported on Monday (25 May 2026). The PPKPT task force has since summoned RAL for questioning.
Trince stated JMS received support during her police statement. She and her family also underwent psychological assessment by a psychiatrist on Thursday (28 May 2026) evening.
“These are the measures we have taken. The 15 witnesses were part of the internal PPKPT investigation,” Trince explained.
The PPKPT task force’s actions, according to Trince, are based on Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) Regulation No. 55 of 2024 on Preventing and Handling Violence in Higher Education Institutions. Under this regulation, the task force is authorised to handle internal cases of such nature.
“With the police, we accompany the victim and family to oversee the case. At the university, the task force handles the matter,” Trince added.
