University of Indonesia Fiscal Study Group Holds Seminar on Strategies to Boost Indonesia's Tax Ratio
JAKARTA, DDTCNews – The Research and Literature Division of the Fiscal Administration Study Group (Kostaf) at the University of Indonesia is once again holding Taxcussion — a seminar presented as an interactive semi-formal discussion featuring speakers from various backgrounds.
This time, Taxcussion carries the theme "Finding the Golden Formula: Strategies to Increase Indonesia's Tax Ratio". The theme is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's plan to pursue a tax ratio of 15%.
The tax ratio target is worth revisiting given the dynamics of the national and global economy, as well as problems with the core tax administration system that have caused disruptions in tax services. Moreover, the government has set an ambitious tax revenue target of Rp2,183.9 trillion for 2025. Meanwhile, actual tax revenue in the first quarter of 2025 reached only Rp225.91 trillion, or 14.7% of the target.
To that end, the government needs to strengthen strategic efforts to broaden the tax base. The discussion forum is expected to serve as a collaborative space for exploring effective and measurable strategies to address these challenges.
Three speakers have been invited to discuss the theme. First, Director of DDTC Fiscal Research and Advisory B. Bawono Kristiaji. Second, Expert Staff to the Minister of Finance for Tax Supervision Nufransa Wira Sakti. Third, Trisakti University academic Sabar L Tobing.
Head of the Tax Administration Study Programme Thesa Adi Purwanto will also be present to deliver the keynote address, whilst Sabian Hansel, International Tax and Transaction Services Consultant at EY, will serve as moderator.
The event will be held in person on Saturday, 21 June 2025, from 13:00 to 15:30 WIB at D'Maritime Resto and Cafe, Cilandak, South Jakarta. The seminar is open to students and the general public.
