The United States government is estimated to receive approximately $10 billion in fees from investors as part of the agreement to sell TikTok’s operations in the United States, according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The agreement emerged following the sale of TikTok’s American business by Chinese technology company ByteDance to a consortium of US investors.

The TikTok sale was executed to comply with US government regulations concerning ownership of social media applications operating in the country.

However, Trump employed a series of executive actions to extend the deadline for the transaction.

The White House subsequently facilitated the agreement to sell TikTok to an investor group led by Oracle Corporation and Silver Lake.

The White House has not yet provided a response to requests for comment regarding the report. However, Trump had previously alluded to fees that the US government would receive from the agreement.

A new entity formed from the agreement was named TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. The company will be responsible for moderating TikTok content in the United States whilst protecting user data in the country.

The new company will be managed by a board comprising seven members with a majority being United States citizens.

Meanwhile, Adam Presser, who previously served as TikTok’s head of operations, trust, and safety, will lead the new company as Chief Executive Officer.
