Hamilton, Canada — The United States has called on all member states of the United Nations (UN) to cease all forms of support enabling Russia’s war in Ukraine to continue, warning that the conflict has inflicted devastating humanitarian consequences and threatens global peace and security.

“Four long and brutal years have passed since the Russia-Ukraine war escalated to the terrifying scale we see today, resulting in thousands of casualties,” said US Deputy Ambassador to the UN Tammy Bruce during a UN Security Council session, calling for the war to be “ended immediately.”

Affirming that Washington under President Donald Trump is promoting resolution through negotiation, Bruce stated that military force will never resolve the conflict.

“Military force will never resolve this conflict – only diplomatic solutions agreed upon by both sides can do that,” she said.

“We are now closer to an agreement than at any point since the war began. However, it is clear we have not yet reached it – fighting continues,” she added.

Bruce also highlighted allegations of foreign support for Moscow, claiming that “China remains the decisive party enabling Russia’s war machine to continue operating.”

“We have repeatedly urged China at this forum to stop supplying dual-use goods and material components to Russia that ultimately end up in drones and other weapons in Ukraine,” she said.

She also criticised North Korea, Iran, and Cuba for allegedly providing troops, weapons, and technology that prolong the conflict.

“The United States calls on all UN member states to end all forms of support enabling the continuation of this abominable war, which inflicts devastating human casualties and threatens peace and security worldwide,” she said.

China’s UN envoy Fu Cong sharply criticised the US deputy ambassador’s statement. “The statement just delivered by the US representative once again smears and slanders China, which is completely unacceptable,” he said.

“China is neither the creator of the Ukraine crisis nor a party to this conflict,” he said, adding that Beijing continues to maintain “normal economic and trade relations” with Russia and Ukraine, as well as with the United States and European countries.

Fu also affirmed that China will continue to “take reasonable steps to safeguard energy security.” He accused the US of fabricating various pretexts and lies across multiple forums.

“The US continues to attack and slander China. This is naked political manipulation,” he said.

“The objective is to provoke bloc confrontation and create divisions and conflicts,” he said, urging the US to stop deflecting attention, stop blaming others, and stop creating conflicts and wars across various parts of the world.
