Unitary state as party vision

From Suara Karya

The 2004 national elections will see 24 political parties
vying across the country in three phases: the legislative
election, the presidential election, and a runoff election in the
case that there is no majority winner.

With such a large number of political parties contesting, the
parties should take care to maintain integrity, truth and
transparency. Above all, they should be uncompromising in
underlining the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia as a
common vision.

The widespread corruption so far have been a result of the
political elite's emphasizing personal or group interests over
national interests. Therefore, whatever party emerges the winner,
the state should remain its focus of struggle.

In resolving national problems, sectors that have been
developed improperly should be rebuilt with a more appropriate
orientation. Public aspirations should be channeled and empty
promises avoided, so as to protect the people from becoming
victim to dirty politics.
