Undana Implements WFH, Online Classes, and AC Temperature Limit of 25 Degrees
Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) is implementing adjustments to work patterns and academic activities by enforcing a work from home (WFH) system and online learning every Friday.
Rector of Undana, Jefri Bale, stated that the policy takes effect from 13 April 2026. This measure follows directives from the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology regarding efficiency and effectiveness in higher education environments.
“This step is taken to balance productivity with resource efficiency, without reducing the quality of administrative services or academic learning outcomes,” said Jefri Bale via telephone on Thursday (16/4/2026).
In addition to work pattern adjustments, Undana is tightening energy efficiency policies. One of them is limiting the use of room air conditioners (AC) to a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and encouraging overall electricity savings.
4 Days in Office, 1 Day at Home
Jefri explained that the new work pattern applies a combination of four days working from the office (WFO) and one day from home.
“All lecturers and educational personnel at Undana are required to WFO from Monday to Thursday with 100 percent attendance. Friday is designated as the WFH schedule for all staff,” he clarified.
During WFH, Jefri said, staff must remain on standby and ensure their devices are always active. Educational personnel are also required to attend virtual coordination meetings every Friday at 08.00 WITA and 16.30 WITA.
“Attendance is still strictly monitored through the SIADIKNONA application,” he added.
Digitalisation of Services and Lectures
According to him, academic activities on Fridays are shifted to an online system. Lecturers are instructed to utilise the Edlink (SIADIKNONA) facility to ensure students’ learning needs are still met.
“However, activities that absolutely require physical presence are exempted. Such as practical sessions, laboratory activities, studios, clinics, workshops, field practices, and thesis, dissertation, and final project defences,” he explained.
Faculty leaders are also encouraged to optimise digital platforms for student guidance and administrative services to reduce mobility on campus.
