UMPR and Bank Indonesia Collaborate to Strengthen Central Banking Education
Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya (UMPR) and the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Central Kalimantan signed a Cooperation Agreement during the Kick-Off event for the 2026 Central Banking Education Programme at the Betang Hapakat Hall of the BI Central Kalimantan Office on Tuesday. “The signing of this Cooperation Agreement is a step towards strengthening the synergy between UMPR and Bank Indonesia in increasing literacy and understanding of central banking among the UMPR academic community,” said UMPR Rector Prof Dr Muhamad Yusuf SSos MAP in Palangka Raya on Tuesday. He added that the cooperation is also aimed at supporting the strengthening of the curriculum and the implementation of more applied learning in the campus environment. The UMPR Rector stated that this collaboration is a form of the campus’s commitment to providing education that is adaptive to economic developments and workforce needs. “This cooperation is not just ceremonial, but we will follow it up with real implementation in the learning process. We welcome Bank Indonesia’s involvement, including plans for collaboration with UMPR lecturers in teaching central banking courses,” he said. Yusuf emphasised that the involvement of practitioners from Bank Indonesia alongside lecturers in the classroom will provide significant added value for students. “With the synergy between academics and practitioners, students will not only receive theory but also practice-based understanding and the latest policies. This is important for shaping graduates who are ready to face future economic challenges,” he said. This event marks the beginning of broader cooperation implementation between UMPR and Bank Indonesia, particularly in strengthening education, research, and improving human resource capacity in central banking. Meanwhile, the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Central Kalimantan Province, Yuliansah Andrias, affirmed that cooperation with universities is part of Bank Indonesia’s strategy in building a sustainable central banking literacy ecosystem. “We want to encourage active involvement of lecturers in developing and teaching central banking materials, so that the curriculum taught is increasingly relevant to Bank Indonesia’s policy developments,” he said. He also expressed his hope that the programme can run well, transparently, and provide real benefits for all parties. “We hope this programme can run well and transparently. In the future, we want Bank Indonesia and universities to continue to be strategic partners in developing central banking programmes and others,” said Yuliansah. Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of collaboration in producing superior human resources in the region. “Ultimately, through this cooperation, together with universities, we want to create superior human resources who can contribute to regional progress, especially in Central Kalimantan,” he said.
