UMKM Dried Cake Entrepreneur Achieves Profits During Ramadhan After Baznas Support
Jakarta — Indonesia’s National Zakat Board (Baznas) through its Baznas Microfinance Village (BMD) programme has successfully boosted the development of a micro-enterprise owned by Silvyani (54), a former beneficiary from Bintoro, Demak Regency, Central Java, who is now a dried cake entrepreneur.
During Ramadhan 1447 Hijriah, Silvyani has recorded revenue of up to 16 million rupiah through various types of snacks and dried cakes she produces, ranging from fried cashews, egg rolls, and fried shallots to assorted dried cakes such as nastar biscuits.
“Alhamdulillah, the capital assistance provided by Baznas I immediately utilised to increase production capacity, particularly for cashew and dried cake products whose demand surged sharply during Ramadhan. From this, my business income during this Ramadhan reached 16 million rupiah with net profit of 6 million rupiah,” Silvyani said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She hopes the Baznas Microfinance Village programme will continue and reach more small traders.
“Thank you Baznas and all the donors. This assistance has been very helpful to me. May everyone receive blessings from this,” said Silvyani.
Responding to this, Saidah Sakwan, Head of Baznas RI’s Distribution and Empowerment Division, appreciated the spirit and diligence of the UMKM entrepreneurs supported by Baznas who remain productive and empowered despite their advanced age.
Saidah added that the spirit and diligence of beneficiaries are important factors in the success of empowerment programmes. Silvyani was deemed capable of reading market opportunities during Ramadhan and maximising the capital support provided.
She emphasised that Baznas will continue to intensify economic empowerment programmes so that more small traders will be assisted.
“Through zakat managed by Baznas, blessings are genuinely felt by beneficiaries. This does not merely strengthen small traders, but also drives the economy of the ummah and brings hope. Thus, Baznas’ efforts are able to strengthen UMKM whilst contributing to poverty alleviation in Indonesia,” said Saidah Sakwan.
