UMI digital transformation cannot be delayed any longer. Its implementation must be accelerated and felt across campus life. The world is changing very quickly, and higher education institutions must not fall behind.

Makassar — Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) and global technology company Ruijie Networks, China, have strengthened their collaboration to accelerate the campus digital transformation.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UMI Wakaf Foundation, Prof Dr Mansyur Ramly, in Makassar on Thursday, said accelerating digital transformation is a strategic necessity that must be realised in practice within UMI.

‘UMI’s digital transformation cannot be postponed any longer. Its implementation must be accelerated and felt throughout campus life. The world is changing very quickly, and higher education institutions must not fall behind,’ he said.

‘We want UMI to be a future campus that is modern, connected, intelligent, and able to meet the needs of the new generation,’ continued Prof Ramly during his visit with a delegation to Ruijie Networks and several sites in China.

According to him, university digitisation is not merely about introducing technology, but about building a new culture in the governance of higher education that is more effective, transparent, fast, and globally oriented.

He urged all university units to promptly prepare tactical, measurable, and integrated steps so that UMI’s digital transformation can be implemented comprehensively.

‘All lines must begin to prepare, from the academic system, administration, student services, digital learning, to strengthening a technology-based research and innovation ecosystem. UMI must become part of Indonesia’s future higher education,’ he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the UMI Wakaf Foundation Masrurah Mokhtar, PhD, stated that the digital transformation being built at UMI is aimed at creating a new academic experience that is more modern and responsive to the needs of future students.

‘What we are building is not just a technological system, but a new ecosystem for higher education. We want UMI students to experience learning that is smarter, more flexible, faster, and more integrated with developments in the global world,’ she said.

Rector of UMI, Prof Dr Hambali Thalib, said UMI’s digital transformation is part of the university’s grand vision toward a World Class University, rooted in Islamic values and a strong academic culture.

‘We want to build a campus that is not only academically excellent but also outstanding in innovation, technology, and service quality. UMI Connection will be the starting point of a new phase of UMI as a smart campus that is modern, adaptive, and globally connected,’ he stated.

The UMI delegation had the opportunity to witness firsthand the modern automated manufacturing system at Ruijie Smart Digital Factory, one of the leading technology facilities that integrates system intelligence, production efficiency, real-time control, and precise digital governance.
