The latest development has emerged in the case of the alleged abduction of a Ukrainian national in Bali. The Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) has received a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sample from the victim’s mother for forensic examination and identification purposes.

Laboratory examination results indicate that the DNA sample matches blood traces previously discovered at a villa in the Tabanan region and inside a rented Avanza vehicle suspected to have been used to transport the victim.

“Yes, the DNA we received from the victim’s mother matched the blood traces we found at one of the villas in the Tabanan area,” said Kombes Ariasandy, Head of Public Relations at Bali Regional Police, when confirmed on Tuesday 3 February 2026.

With this match, police have strengthened their suspicion that the villa is directly connected to the incident under investigation. The location was previously suspected as the place where the victim recorded a video that went viral on social media.

“That villa is what we suspect as the location where the victim released the video that went viral,” he explained.

To date, investigators have identified six foreign nationals (WNA) as suspects in the case. The legal status determination was made following a series of investigations, witness examinations, and CCTV analysis results that pointed to the alleged involvement of the suspects in the abduction incident.

The six suspects are identified by initials: RM, BK, AS, VN, SM, and DH. They remain at large and Bali Regional Police are cooperating with Interpol.

The case originated from a report received by police in the early hours of Sunday 15 February 2026 at the South Kuta Police Station. At that time, a friend of the victim reported that their colleague had gone missing after allegedly being attacked by unknown persons in the Jimbaran area.

According to initial statements, the three of them were riding motorcycles. During the journey, two people were allegedly attacked. Upon returning to the location, the victim was no longer there and only their belongings such as a mobile phone and bag were found.

The investigation expanded after police traced CCTV recordings and GPS data from the vehicle suspected to have been used by the perpetrators. The vehicle was detected to have stopped at a villa in Tabanan. At that location, investigators found blood traces which were then forensically examined.

The results showed that the blood found at the villa was identical to the DNA sample from the victim’s mother that had been received and examined by investigators. At present, police continue to investigate the role of the suspects and are pursuing individuals suspected of involvement in the case, including those detected to be abroad.
