UBSI Tegal Digital Creativity Seminar Unveils Storytelling and Branding Secrets
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEGAL - The auditorium of Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) Tegal campus erupted with enthusiasm from hundreds of eager eyes on Tuesday (26 May 2026). In the room at Jalan Sipelem No. 22, Kraton, West Tegal, a significant discussion was taking place: transforming everyday routines into vibrant, marketable digital narratives.
This key question was thoroughly addressed during the Digital Creativity Seminar titled ‘Build Your Brand, Share Your Story’. This collaborative event between Digital Community (DICO) and UBSI Tegal provided a platform for the city’s youth to advance in the digital creative industry.
Leading speaker Ivana Zulkha, a local Tegal content creator specialising in food, lifestyle, and travel, shared the behind-the-scenes secrets of the increasingly competitive creative industry.
Infusing ‘Soul’ in the First Three Seconds
For some, documenting delicious food or aesthetically pleasing vacation spots may suffice. However, to Ivana, content without a strong narrative is merely lifeless visuals.
‘The most crucial aspect of storytelling is capturing the audience’s interest from the very beginning,’ Ivana told seminar attendees.
She explained that aesthetic visuals serve as the gateway, but the key to keeping audiences engaged and connected lies in the energy conveyed through storytelling.
This technique, known as a hook in social media content, is something Ivana frequently employs by using cheerful, energetic voiceovers to transmit positive energy directly to viewers.
She also revealed a crucial formula in short video production: the first three seconds rule.
‘The first three seconds are vital as a hook to spark curiosity. I typically dive straight into the core of the video, such as ’new food or location recommendations’, to ensure viewers stay engaged until the end,’ she said.
Additionally, Ivana shared audience psychology tricks, such as deliberately placing location details at the end of videos to pique viewers’ curiosity. The result? A surge in comments and interactions.
‘Storytelling is more than just visuals—it’s about building curiosity and connection with the audience,’ she added.
