UBL Rector Suspends Lecturer Over Alleged Student Harassment
The Rector of Universitas Budi Luhur (UBL), Agus Setyo Budi, has stated that the university has suspended the lecturer linked to a report of alleged sexual harassment against a student with the initials A. This decision is contained in the Rector’s Decree Number: K/UBL/REK/000/006/02/26 regarding the Release from Duties in the Field of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education for the Lecturer in the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, effective from 27 February 2026. “Universitas Budi Luhur has taken firm and structured steps by suspending (the reported lecturer),” Agus said, quoted from the official Universitas Budi Luhur website on Tuesday (7/4). Agus explained that the decision was made to open opportunities for a thorough investigation into the report of alleged sexual harassment. “This is aimed at opening opportunities for in-depth investigation and the collection of additional evidence to ensure the investigation process runs objectively, independently, and free from interference,” he stated. Furthermore, Agus revealed the results of the investigation by the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT), which stated that the evidence and witnesses presented by student A, the alleged victim, were not strong enough. “Based on the results of the investigation by the Satgas PPKPT team, it is stated that the evidence submitted and the witnesses presented are not sufficiently strong to point towards the alleged sexual violence (sexual harassment) reported against the Respondent,” he said. Agus emphasised that his campus is fully committed to creating a safe, dignified environment free from sexual violence. “Universitas Budi Luhur consistently remains fully committed to creating a safe, dignified campus environment free from all forms of sexual violence, bullying, and intolerance by implementing a zero-tolerance principle,” he said. In a post on the alleged victim’s Instagram account, student A is believed to have been a victim of sexual harassment by her lecturer when she was 19 years old. She mentioned that there are two other people who became victims with a similar pattern of events. In that post, student A protested regarding the alleged perpetrator who was only temporarily suspended from his position as a lecturer.
