UAE Gifts 30 Tonnes of Premium Dates to Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has delivered humanitarian aid in the form of 30 tonnes of premium dates to the Indonesian government for distribution to the public during Ramadan 1447 H/2026, as a symbol of brotherhood and friendship between the two nations.
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar expressed his appreciation for the continued attention shown by the UAE, particularly towards Muslims observing the fasting month.
“This aid is not merely dates, but a symbol of warm brotherhood between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. The relationship between the two countries is built upon the values of humanity, solidarity, and tolerance,” Nasaruddin said in a ministry press statement on Tuesday.
He said the aid would be channelled to those in need, particularly mustahik (eligible recipients of charitable donations), through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ networks and related partners to ensure its benefits are widely felt during Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a month of sharing. May this gift bring blessings and further strengthen the friendship between our two nations,” he added.
UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri stated that the aid represented a genuine expression of solidarity from his government towards the Indonesian people.
“These 30 tonnes of premium dates are provided free of charge through the Emirates International Aid Agency as an expression of goodwill and brotherhood towards the Indonesian people during the blessed month of Ramadan,” he said.
He emphasised that Ramadan represents a moment of compassion, solidarity, and generosity — values deeply rooted in both Emirati and Indonesian societies.
The initiative, he said, is in line with the UAE’s long-term humanitarian approach under the direction of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“This Ramadan gift reflects the depth of our fraternal ties and our shared commitment to promoting tolerance and coexistence,” he said.
The 30 tonnes of dates arrived in Indonesia on 23 February 2026 via Soekarno-Hatta Cargo Airport and have undergone inspection to ensure readiness for distribution to the public.
