JAKARTA - The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, has assured that his country is in a safe condition amid the war between Iran and the United States (US) and Israel.
“I assure you, the UAE remains safe, stable, and fully prepared. The same applies to Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Kuwait,” Abdulla stated during a press conference at the UAE Ambassador’s Residence in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
“In the UAE, there are more than 200,000 foreign nationals living in safety and harmony, including 85,000 Indonesian citizens residing in the UAE,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Gulf states’ economies remain stable and strong, with high liquidity levels in the banking sector, evidenced by a capital adequacy ratio of around 17% and a liquidity coverage ratio exceeding 146.6%.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has announced its agreement to a two-week ceasefire in the war against the United States (US).
As reported by Al Jazeera on Wednesday (8/4/2026), the council emphasised that the ceasefire does not mean the war is over.
“Our finger remains on the trigger, and if the enemy makes even the slightest mistake, it will be met with full force,” stated the Supreme National Security Council of Iran.
Previously reported, US President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced a temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran for two weeks.
This decision came after intensive discussions with Pakistan’s leadership, which acted as a mediator in the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Earlier, he had threatened to flatten Iran if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He set a deadline of Tuesday (7/4/2026) at 20:00 Eastern Time (ET) on the US East Coast, which equates to Wednesday (8/4/2026) at 03:30 Tehran time, or Wednesday at 07:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
