UAE Ambassador affirms country's safety and stability amid escalation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri, has affirmed that his country remains safe and stable amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East region.
“I affirm that the United Arab Emirates remains safe and stable. Our defence systems are highly effective. Our institutions are operating fully and more than 200 foreign nationals remain in safe and harmonious conditions,” said Ambassador Aldhaheri during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday evening (8/4).
He explained that at the same time, the UAE’s economy remains resilient and possesses strong banking liquidity, with a capital adequacy ratio of around 17 percent and a liquidity coverage ratio exceeding 146.6 percent, which he stated is far above international standards.
“Our banking sector has assets of more than 5.4 trillion UAE dirhams, with solid capitalisation and liquidity,” added Aldhaheri.
It was mentioned that approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil supply and 20 percent of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade pass through the Strait of Hormuz, where around 80–90 percent of its exports are directed towards Asia.
Ambassador Aldhaheri also assessed that disruptions in the region have directly impacted global markets, including rises in energy prices, increased shipping and transportation costs, and pressures on global supply chains.
“In this context, Indonesia is also affected through rising fuel prices, increased goods prices, and supply chain disruptions. Therefore, we affirm that this is not merely a regional issue, but also a global one,” stated Ambassador Aldhaheri.
Also present at the press statement were representatives from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Indonesian religious figures, such as the General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf.
