Two groups of teenagers clashed on Jalan Bypass BIL-Mandalika, specifically in Segala Anyar Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Wednesday night (11 March). The disturbance was allegedly triggered by betting on street racing.

Based on video footage received by detikBali, hundreds of teenagers from various areas were seen gathering on Jalan Bypass BIL-Mandalika. They appeared enthusiastic watching sprinters preparing to race. In the video, the runner participating in the street race appeared to be female.

However, the precise cause of the disturbance remains unclear. The footage also showed one teenager carrying a sharp weapon whilst chasing another group.

Head of Public Relations for Central Lombok Police, Iptu Lalu Brata Kusnadi, confirmed the incident. He explained that the event occurred on Jalan Bypass BIL-Mandalika on Wednesday night.

“The incident is confirmed. There was indeed a commotion,” he told detikBali on Thursday morning (12 March 2026).

Brata explained that officers from Pujut Police Station immediately responded to the scene, allowing the crowd to be dispersed.

“However, there were no casualties. We only issued warnings for the crowd to disperse and refrain from activities that could disturb public order and security,” he said.

According to Brata, the area is normally patrolled almost every night by officers. However, the teenagers apparently deliberately gathered after police returned to their office.

“So we ask for cooperation from the community. We do continue patrols. Perhaps it is a game of cat and mouse,” he added.

Police Appeal to Residents and Parents to Supervise Children

Brata appealed to the community to collectively maintain public order and security during Ramadan. He also urged parents to prohibit their children from leaving home after 22:00 Wita, particularly those under the age of majority.

“This situation requires our collective awareness. The community must not support such activities. Let us work together to maintain conduciveness during this holy month of Ramadan,” he stated.

Furthermore, Brata asked the community not to hesitate reporting to officers if they discover incidents that could potentially trigger conflict. This step is considered important for maintaining a conducive situation.

“We ask for assistance from the community. If there are such incidents, please warn the gatherings and disperse them. If you cannot do so, please report to us,” he concluded.
