JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The President Director of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wishnu Wardana, has been demanded a two-year prison sentence in the case of a fire at his office that killed 22 employees.

The demand was read out during the continuation of the Terra Drone fire case trial at the Central Jakarta District Court in Kemayoran on Monday (11/5/2026).

Public Prosecutor Daru Iqbal Mursid stated that Michael Wishnu was guilty of committing a criminal act due to his negligence that resulted in the death of people.

“Therefore, impose a sentence on the defendant Michael Wisnuwardhana Siagian with a prison sentence of two years, minus the period of arrest and detention already served,” said the prosecutor.

In his demand, the prosecutor also requested that Michael Wishnu remain in custody.

The prosecutor also revealed aggravating factors in Michael Wishnu’s position in the PT Terra Drone fire case.

Michael was deemed negligent in maintaining employee safety, resulting in 22 PT Terra Drone Indonesia employees dying in the fire that occurred on 9 December 2025.

Meanwhile, reconciliation with 20 families of the deceased victims became a mitigating factor in the case.

Prosecutor Daru Iqbal Mursid also conveyed that as the President Director, Michael Wishnu was negligent in preventing, reducing, and extinguishing the fire that occurred at his office.

In detail, the prosecutor outlined five instances of negligence by Michael Wishnu.

“First, not providing fire detection sensors and smoke detection sensors in the PT Terradrone Indonesia office building,” said the prosecutor.

As a result, several employees in the PT Terra Drone Indonesia office building did not receive timely information or warnings when the fire occurred.

Several employees were thus delayed in evacuating and saving themselves.

This caused several employees to have difficulty evacuating and saving themselves during the fire.

Third, Michael did not optimise air circulation in his office building, so that during the fire, thick smoke from the fire containing carbon monoxide could not circulate optimally and accumulated inside the building.

“And causing the thick smoke from the fire containing carbon monoxide to be inhaled excessively by several employees, who had difficulty evacuating or saving themselves,” explained the prosecutor.

Fourth, President Director Michael Wishnu did not conduct regular fire prevention training and drills.
