Two TNI Soldiers Involved in Misuse of Subsidised Fuel
JAKARTA - Two personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) are involved in the misuse of subsidised fuel oil (BBM).
“We can report that in 2025, there are allegedly two personnel involved in the misuse of BBM,” said Deputy Commander of the TNI Military Police Corps, First Marshal Bambang Suseno, during a press conference at Bhayangkara Field, National Police Headquarters, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Seno stated that the two soldiers, whose identities have not yet been disclosed, are still under investigation.
“This is still in the investigation process at the regional military police command. Their positions are in Central Java and Bekasi,” Seno explained.
“The TNI will not tolerate it and will take firm action against any suspected perpetrators or backers from TNI members. This is a commitment from the leadership that it will be dealt with firmly,” he said.
He also added that the TNI Military Police Corps is open to information from the public regarding the involvement of other TNI members.
The National Police has also warned its members not to attempt to act as backers in this illegal business.
“We reaffirm our internal commitment that there is no room for members involved in such illegal practices. Any form of involvement, whether as perpetrators or backers, will be firmly addressed by the leadership. There is no tolerance,” said Director of Specific Crimes (Dirtipidter) of Bareskrim Polri, Police Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has uncovered cases of misuse of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) throughout 2025-2026, causing state losses of up to Rp1.2 trillion.
Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri, Police Brigadier General Nunung Syaifuddin, stated that this disclosure aims to prevent disruptions amid the energy crisis due to global conflicts.
“The law enforcement carried out by Bareskrim Polri and regional police throughout 2025 and up to now in 2026 has revealed that crimes involving the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG have resulted in potential state financial leakage of Rp1,266,160,963,200,” said Nunung during the press conference at Bhayangkara Field, National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“This is a significant figure that should have been used for subsidies on essential goods to benefit the underprivileged but has been misused. This is what we can secure to anticipate state financial leakage,” Nunung added.
